IB Student at Malvern College Cairo, Egypt.
This website is created to illuste my creativity part of the CAS.
Creativity, Activity, Service (CAS) is a mandatory core component
of the IB Diploma Programme. It aims to provide a "counterbalance"
to the academic rigour of the educational programme.
I will be presenting here all the experiences, I have lived throughout the two years of the IB Diploma schooling.
The CAS component has opened my eyes to all aspects of life and people, the world is full of opportunities and challenges, and I am excited to share my experiences with you.
1. Visual Storytelling: A Documentary on the Sudan War
Description and Goals In this CAS experience, i will be creating a
6minute video documentary exploring the crisis of Sudan War, its impact
, causes and the stories behind this conflict that involves humanity. By
researching and exploring more about the reasons behind the war , i will
aim to present a clear and engaging narrative that raises awareness
about this humanitarian crisis in Sudan. This documentary will focus on
the highlights of the war , its effect on civilians and historical
context. while ensuring a careful a well informed, and ethical approach
of this issue.
2. This website is the second creativity experince that came true.
1. Horse Riding Training: he horse riding sessions I
attended were taken more as a personal challenge and a way to keep fit.
I was at two different locations; one was a practice track, and the
other one was in the forest with my friends. The aim was not only to get
acquainted with the horses and to have more stability and coordination
but also to face the challenge of an energetic activity. Mainly I was
taught how to mount the horse and how to maintain control while riding,
and I was also introduced to the fun of trotting and steering. Further
on, alongside the issues of violence and abuse, I got to know what
animal welfare means in particular when horses are concerned.
2. Playing Football at Al Ahly Academy: I am a
passionate football player who trains at the renowned Al Ahly Academy. I
attend three intensive training sessions each week, from 7 PM to 10 PM.
Our training program is demanding, focusing on physical fitness,
technical skills, tactical understanding, and competitive play. I
participate in various drills and exercises, including passing,
shooting, dribbling, and tactical play. I also engage in physical
conditioning activities to improve my strength, speed, and endurance. In
addition to individual training, I play in regular matches against other
teams, which helps me apply my skills in a competitive environment.
3.
Biking in an Urban Area for Wellness and Challenge:
The reason the other day I went on that bicycle ride was to do the
activities that could keep me fit, fulfill my goal of the
self-exploration of a new place, and also test my own limits. For me it
wasn’t a familiar neighborhood at all, and that was why the experience
became clearly more interesting than otherwise and I had to concentrate
more than usual. To tell the truth the main point for me was to move as
much as possible, to get the hand-eye coordination in a better state,
and to have a quintessence of relaxation, which only the outdoor
activity could provide me with.
1.
School Common Room set up:
During the CAS project, I was a member of the team of my classmates in
high-school of ib dp 1 that worked on the setup and design of the
school’s common room, which was created as a place for students to hang
out and relax. My part was the interior layout plan, color themes,
selection of pieces of décor, arranging the furniture and maybe even
creating visual elements like posters or wall art. This endeavor was not
only challenging and fun but also very educational as it allowed me to
be creative in a new setting, to share my ideas and to decide on the
best design which would make the space more comfortable and attractive
to students. The aim was to establish an open and cozy room for young
people that will instigate togetherness and ease. Collaborate with
others to bring creative ideas to life and improve communication
skills
2.
School Charity Bakesale:
A bake sale was organized within my year group to raise funds for a
local charity called EGYPTIAN FOOD BANK. The lower sixth form used the
kitchen facility at the school. We baked cookies and popcorn. We bought
in cupcakes and potato chips. Mohamed Fawzi organised the buying of
snacks, the money was raised to purchase these within the group, and the
profits from the sales went to charity. The total donated was 1500 LE
What did I do? We put together a charity bake sale as a cluster to
generate funds for the the Egyptian Food Bank. We were allowed to use
the school kitchen to bake cookies and popcorn while we also brought and
sold snacks such as cupcakes and chips. During the breaks, I was busy
not only with baking but also with the selling of the stuff.
3.
Distributing Food to the Elderly in Nursing Homes:
My first activity, to which I devoted myself, was the distribution of
food and biscuits to old people in nursing homes and care apartments.
For this, I went on 3-4 occasions where I worked together with other
people to hand out bags of food, basic needs, and sweets. During our
walks, we sometimes took warm meals; sometimes we took packages of
biscuits and food. At some facilities, we were politely asked not to
photograph the inhabitants' faces, and we were glad to do so and still
documented the process. Reflection: Offering help to elderly people with
in-home Care services Learnt about the importance of dignity and respect
in community work Showing empathy, being of service in an active manner,
and being consistently helpful through many visits Spreading comfort and
kindness through small and regular activities
4.
Providing nutrition and compassion: Feeding the homeless in Egypt
Giza:
This CAS project involved providing meals to the homeless individuals in
Giza Egypt. The meals consisted of bread, tahina, and chicken, and were
distributed scattered between 6th Oct 2024 to 30th Mar 2025. The goal
was to show compassion to individuals in need and help me to go out of
myself and reach out . I went out on the streets to find people who
needed help. I gave them the food and talked to them for a while. I felt
happy to be able to help them, even in a small way. It was a good
experience and I learned a lot.
